Gentlemen,

Just want to describe how I was able to create a test scenario.
I put together a test scenario in my development box.

Created a PF1 type PF38 with a LF1 type LF38 and made a record of their
Format IDs

Changed the DDS source member type to PF and ran the CHGPF command.
(I left the source member LF1 type LF38 unmodified)

Created an additional Source member LF2 type LF with the explicit DDS
keyword FIFO
I remember the System 38 had that as default.
Created the new logical file LF2 type LF and these were my results

PF1 type PF has the same Record Level ID than the previous PF1 type PF38
LF1 type LF38 has the same Record Level ID than the newly created LF2 type
LF.
.. after that I just got rid of the old LF1 type LF38
... I can rename and/or move the newly created LF2 type LF to replace the
old LF1.

I am sure that case by case every logical file needs to be reexamined.

If you have more than 25 logical files type 38 .. you probably need to find
a good IBM Data base developer that can give you an alternate solution via
SQL.

Neil, I wish you are fortunate and find a clean solution.
