I know these "how long should this take" questions are very subjective, but this just does not smell right. During our weekly backup routine, we start off with a SAVSECDTA and SAVCFG before we start our SAVLIB *ALLUSR. I just noticed this week that the SAVSECDTA takes between 35-45 minutes. That seems like a very, very long time. I looked at the previous weeks, and that time has been consistent for a long time now. Hardware-wise, we have a 720-2161 with 2gb RAM and over 250gb DASD. We are running V5R1 with the latest CUME cd applied. Before running our backup job, we end all subsystems except what is necessary to run TCP - all printers, interactive and batch subsystems get ended and the job runs out of the job scheduler in the QCTL subsystem. Does anyone have any ideas as to how long a SAVSECDTA should normally take? Thanks. Rich Herdman Abbott Foods Columbus, OH email: rherdman@abbottfoods.com
