I think I have figured this one out??

I am using TN5250J under Linux. For some reason or other debug does not
work on these displays. This obviously needs some further investigation.

I have no problems with a native 3177 twinax terminal, and no problems
with the CA/400 emulator running under Windows.

It must be something to do with the way in which TN5250J interacts with
the 5250 data stream.

It seems I IPLed the system for nothing.
