Steve, There is a system, and I have coded for it (in COBOL). The documentation can be retrieved from the Social Security Administration publications. The problem I have found with this publication, It has (or for the longest time was) not updated. It was SEVERAL years out of date, and I had to guess how many sequence numbers had been assigned. The 2nd two digits are not assigned in numeric order, but are assigned in even numbers through part of the set, then odd numbers, then who know how after that. If you find that the documentation has been upgraded, please let me know. I would love to fix my programing to reflect something other than the 70's. Hope this helps!!!
