For myself, the curve was fast (mostly learning html and JavaScript took the time; as for that, I used front page to "see" how html should look, and found some sites with "free" JavaScript snippets that I could use, until I understood the why and hows. The rpg code is not that tough, you are just "writing" to something other than a screen or printout, the hardest thing was to realize you are not programming an interactive program, as each program starts and stops "by itself"; unless you want to get into persistent programming (which we did not, as I was already in two months about a year ahead of the rest of the staff, they pulled back on my reins a little bit there) I picked it up very quickly, I still have a manager that really does not want to see the code, a junior pgmr that is "scared", but little does he know, his next project is to modify one of those cgi pgms, and a consultant that likes to look, but just does not have the time to really dig in yet, though I think he could pick it up rather quickly now that I have been down the road already and know where to turn and what dark alleys to stay out of. Oh sorry, short answer (me 3), my junior pgmr(7), basically if you are somewhat seasoned (3-5 years) and have at least been curious enough to look over the html source while you are surfing, you can pick this up rather quickly, without too much pain.
