I was hoping that we could use this to get remote access to our servers.
Let's say that we have all of our servers hooked up to this.  Then we
could use our VPN connection to access this device and control all of the
servers.

Some KVMs (the newer ones) are TCP addressable. Allowing the K, V & M to
be
far away (ie. Toronto to Austin) from the servers, but generally the
switch
is connected via a keyboard (K), video cable (V) and mouse cable (M) to
the
servers locally. Locally generally means w/in a thousand or so feet.

The ones we use are from Belkin
(http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatSectionView.process?Section_Id=56) but there
are a number of manufacturers.
