No they couldn't.  Those office tools require bitmapped displays which
OS/400 does not support.  I am unaware of single office application on
windows or linux that does not require a bitmapped display, whether GUI or
command line.  Unless you consider sed to be an office application.

No one has argued that people on this list do not want OS/400 on their PC.
I stated that outside the scope of this list people with portables do not
want OS/400 on their portable.  I also stated that to think that a
portable version of OS/400 would topple microsoft's monopoly is
ridiculous.
