Just thought I'd throw in my own story. I hate calling IBM for anything. I love the box, hate the buocracy, beuocracy, bueocracy, politics. I need to order a CUM PTF from IBM which I'm going to pay for since we didn't have a software contract. So, I call IBM Direct, tell them I want to order a CUM PTF. I don't have a contract so that'll be $185/hour to talk to them. What? Listen, I want to order something from you, I don't need maintenance. Can't talk to them without a contract or per incident charge. This is ludicrous, I'm not going to pay you $185/hour to order something which I'm going to pay you anyway. They won't talk to me, I hang up in disgust. I called a few other IBM departments, finally get someone in who knows the politics, says I just need to fax in my order. So I call back IBM Direct, get their fax order form. Filled it out, sent it, received my CUM CD and a bill for the amount I expected. My question: Why in the heck didn't' the first guy at IBM Direct just tell me to fax it in? Yeesh. Regards, Jim Langston Subject: Re: RE: RE: ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! From: "Mike Naughton" <mnaughton@juddwire.com> Actually, my comment was meant tongue-in-cheek -- the situation that Joe was describing just seemed so . . . . Dilbertish? . . . . that I had to laugh (spent last night at a school building presentation, so right now I'm looking for laughs any place I can find them :-) Of course, Joe has explained that things weren't quite as surreal as I thought they were . . . . midrange-l@midrange.com writes: > I'm not sure >whether you're being tongue-in-cheek or not, but you're right.
