There is no way to move QUSRSYS from V3R2 to V5R1. If you don't care about QUSRSYS, the programs and data will restore fine. You run the risk of executing the MAKEAMESS command. Right? Sent by: midrange-l-admin@mi drange.com 03/19/02 06:24 PM Please respond to midrange-l Hi, I'm just looking for a "feel better" about this planned upgrade. I have a client who is running V3R2, jumping straight onto a V5 machine. If I'm correct, there'll have to be an intermediate stopover at V4R5 before restoring to V5. Or, will V5 allow restoring V3 programs/data? (this would be just too good) I'm at V4R5, so I don't know about V5...yet. My plan is to load the program/data tapes onto a V4R5 machine, let it convert to Risc during the install, then just save on V4R5 machine and restore to the V5 machine. I know, I know, just follow the yellow greek roadmap. But, I would rather recreate the configuration than do the multistep roadmap thing, so I'll just follow this and I believe I'll be OK. I'll have to recreate jobds, queues, user profiles, etc...and that's OK. And I'll guarantee that QGPL and QUSRSYS won't be back-levelled when I'm done. My BP is saying that IBM recommends Cisc-to-Risc (roadmap) from V3R2 to V3R7, then move to V4R3, then to V5R1. Your advice is appreciated.... TIA AS/Resources, Inc.
