Hi, I'm just looking for a "feel better" about this planned upgrade. I have a client who is running V3R2, jumping straight onto a V5 machine. If I'm correct, there'll have to be an intermediate stopover at V4R5 before restoring to V5. Or, will V5 allow restoring V3 programs/data? (this would be just too good) I'm at V4R5, so I don't know about V5...yet. My plan is to load the program/data tapes onto a V4R5 machine, let it convert to Risc during the install, then just save on V4R5 machine and restore to the V5 machine. I know, I know, just follow the yellow greek roadmap. But, I would rather recreate the configuration than do the multistep roadmap thing, so I'll just follow this and I believe I'll be OK. I'll have to recreate jobds, queues, user profiles, etc...and that's OK. And I'll guarantee that QGPL and QUSRSYS won't be back-levelled when I'm done. My BP is saying that IBM recommends Cisc-to-Risc (roadmap) from V3R2 to V3R7, then move to V4R3, then to V5R1. Your advice is appreciated.... TIA AS/Resources, Inc.
