Hi Mike, As others have already mentioned, you can create the data file on the target system before doing your FTP. That will retain the file structure. One thing to consider. Depending on the size of the file and the speed of your communications link, it may be faster to go the save file route. The DTACPR (Data compression) option on the SAVOBJ command can really shrink down the size of what you would be sending. Of course, you have the overhead (both in time and disk space) of the save and restore operations at each end. Hope this helps!
