Well Scott,

If RPG/400 means RPGIII for the 400 based on the manual available at the
link
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/html/as400/v5r1/ic2924/books/c0918170.pdf

and if ILE RPG must (in your mind) utilize linkage to other languages and
special activation groups and may be found at the link
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/html/as400/v5r1/ic2924/books/c0925083.pdf

Then where would the manual on RPG IV be found?

I'm sorry, but I can't agree with you. ILE stands for Integrated Language
Environment.

On the AS/400, the only version of RPG IV that exists is also the version
of RPG that runs in the Integrated Language Environment. Thus "ILE RPG".
And the reason you used the term "pseudo" in "pseudo OPM programs" is
because, although it can behave like an OPM program, it's never REALLY an
OPM program. It's always ILE. But thats on the AS/400, where ILE
exists.

The reason IBM's VARPG and ASNA's Visual RPG run "RPG IV" instead of
"ILE RPG" (which are NOT the same thing) is because there is no ILE
for the PC. Or at least, I haven't seen one.

To say that VARPG is "ILE RPG" is not correct. You are correct in
saying that "ILE RPG means RPG IV", but the opposite is not true,
RPG IV does *not* mean ILE RPG. Why? Because ILE implies that it runs
in the Integrated Language Environment, which doesn't exist (AFIAK) for
the PC.
