Hi, Booth - long time since we shared the 'mouthiest' contributor award here, eh? There's a set of really good informaiton and guidelines called Preventive Service Planning (PSP). You should be able to get to this on the support page for iSeries. This can help you know when and what to get. Also, get to know the APAR knowledge base, as well as the software knowledge base. These are accessible on the iSeries support page, too. Sorry, but you really probably should rtfm - the Basic Operations manual or whatever it's called now. ;-) There are at least 4 ways to get PTFs and C U M Es. 1. ECS modem (SNDPTFORD is the command) - slow, limited by size of PTFs - will add prerequisite and corequisite PTFs - but not unless for VxRxMx of the machine you download to - you can specify media type and where to send media (true for all of these) 2. iPTF - on internet - pretty neat - same limits as ECS, at least used to be 3. Call support - Another response describes this - I never used it 4. Order fixes or C U M Es on support page (Boulder fulfilment center) - Needs Support Line or other contract - You enter any set of PTFs you want - you specify the VxRxMx - you specify media and destination - Coreqs and prereqs are all taken care of - instructions come with the mailing - tailored for your order The installation instructions are generally easy enought to follow, just be sure to follow them religiously. Luck!
