Why use PC Anywhere? If your company has VPN, get access through the VPN. Then use your PC using VNC (from AT&T). This is a free program. There is also are version of VNC called TightVNC which compresses your screen data before you receive it. I have not had a chance to test that yet. This is what I do (well tried to do). I haven't gotten it all figure out yet. But it sure beats buying software. Then when I leave work I turn my monitor off... no one would ever know I am using my PC unless they turned on my monitor. -----Original Message----- From: Norbut, Jim [mailto:Jim.Norbut@Grubb-Ellis.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 26, 2002 2:58 PM To: 'midrange-l@midrange.com' Subject: RE: how to have AS/400 console at home Probably quite a common setup. 1) Dial into your computer at work using PC Anywhere 2) Using the computer at work connect to the AS/400 Of course this assumes the computer is setup as "ready to answer" And the phone lines are in a good mood that day :) I know many people who have this type of setup and it works quite well. So, you have THREE machines. From (1) you dial in to your PC (2) and from (1 or 2?) start a session on the AS/400 (3). Please explain your clever setup.
