The other one is Instant ASP (iASP) by Halcyon (http://www.halcyonsoft.com/) I've used iASP as a trial with Apache running locally on my W2K box and it performed well, I only had to change my connection string because iASP doesn't support OLE/DB, but ODBC. But I've not tried it on the AS/400. The biggest problem I see with either of these tools (and there are probably others) is that while they emulate the ASP environment in Java you still don't have all the COM background stuff. Halcyon has a Java->ActiveX bridge (RJAX) that appears to provide a bridge, but I can't imagine having Apache on iSeries run an ASP page using iASP that opens a COM object using RJAX on an W2K box that then opens a recordset via ADO that connection to the same iSeries you started on, seems silly and VERY error prone. Besides, I don't think RJAX is plug and play, I think you have to change the ASP, but I'm not sure. If you are trying to stay away from IIS I think you're probably ok with these tools and Apache on W2K, but I don't think you can really port you ASP to the iSereis w/o serious work. But then again, why would you want to? -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516)627-3800 x11 WaldenL@TechSoftInc.com http://www.TechSoftInc.com -----Original Message----- From: Jeff Silberberg [mailto:jsilberberg@mindspring.com] Sent: Monday, February 11, 2002 10:00 To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: Re: ASP on AS/400 Mark, I would look at http://www.chilisoft.com/ and there is another one simular that should work as well, you may need to move to the Apache engine from the HTTP server to really make it work.
