OK, I did this one to myself, but I figured I'd share. I have a 270 dev box that we don't pay much attention to. When we first installed it in December I named it THORIN and setup the RDBDIRE for THORIN to point to *LOCAL. Well, then I decided I wanted to name is SOL (don't ask) so I deleted the *LOCAL entry and added the one for SOL. Well, I never IPL'd. I've been wondering why, for the past 3 months, inventory wasn't collecting, LDAP was erroring, and the like. Being a dev box I didn't bother to check. Well I checked today and deep in a joblog somewhere was attempts to connect to RDB THORIN. Some of the server jobs apparently grab the *LOCAL entry when the system starts so the lesson learned is: When you change the RDB *LOCAL entry, re-IPL. -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x11 (208) 692-3308 eFax WaldenL@TechSoftInc.com http://www.TechSoftInc.com
