Dumb terminal as System Console.

So here we are, looking for a realible, hassle-free console to manage
our iSeries boxes.  Twinax attached is desired but no more IBM twinax
consoles.  Ops Console using serial cables is too flaky!  A dedicated
(until V5R2) ethernet card is too expensive.

Why can't IBM just imbed the console controller into the iSeries, we
plug in monitor and keyboard and TA-DA, reliable console control!
