Man......if that's what it takes to go from V4R5 to V5R1...why don't they say so in the install manual. Seems like a lot of "end user" responsibility to figure all this stuff out on their own. My 2771 is in C07 and my 2745 is in C06 (ibm told me to do it this way) And I have the ops console cable in the 2771. I was able to get the lic for V5R1 installed...but now can't do the additional licensed programs. Getting the error "Installation not complete. File system not available" It just get's more interesting all the time <G> -----Original Message----- From: Dwayne Lindner [mailto:Dwayne.Lindner@writ.wesfarmers.com.au] Sent: Tuesday, January 15, 2002 7:45 PM To: 'midrange-l@midrange.com' Subject: RE: 270 Ops Console > Fiddly is putting it mildly.....in the last 3 days I have had > 3 IBM CE's out > here > And yesterday (2 at one time all afternoon) Looking at my > 270...and we still > can't get it to upgrade from V4R5 to V5R1 correctly. > There's your first mistake :-). Too many CE's. What slot is the 2771 in ?? From memory, it should be C06 if you don't have the 2745 installed... Our setup works with the 2771 in C04 and the 2745 in C06 with Ops Console plugged into the 2771. I swapped the cable from the 2745 to the 2771 during the IPL after LIC install when upgrading to V5R1. Upgrade your Ops Console to V5R1 at the same time! We've got 820's, but the setup should be identical for the 270's. > We have switched card locations and change the ops console cable to > Run off of the 2745 card (which V4R5 likes) to the 2771 card > (which V5R1 > likes) If you switch before upgrading it simply won't work!! Been there, done that! Good luck!
