Well, I can understand that 440 is no longer a supported OS and CD's have a limited life and are subject to damage. The view here is that I should dsimply move to a supported release but I have other reasons for wishing to keep this machine at 400 -- not least of which is the ability to compile code for 420 which I will lose if I upgrade.
