        The standard way of doing this is something like this:

  Public Power  --------------------------
                               |                            BBM  -------
PDU
                            ATS ----- UPS -------
                               |
  Generator Pak ----

        ATS is Automatic Transfer Switch, and  BBM is a Break Before Make
Switch and the PDU Is a Power Distribution Unit..  The BBM let's you take
the UPS down completely to swap batteries and do other scheduled preventive
Maintenance, normal operation is Public Power -- UPS -- PDU -- Systems..  .
