I haven't been following this thread very closely, so I apologize if this has already been suggested. One thing that I always do on a system that's getting full is run a DSPOBJD *ALL/*ALL to an *OUTFILE and then query that *OUTFILE, in descending order by OBJECT size. That way, I can immediately see which objects/files are the biggest and I can make a decision at that point as to whether or not I want clear or delete them. HTH
