Two points: 1. There should be a distinction between 'production queries' and 'user queries'. The first will normally be a minimum (done - or 'stolen' from a user by lazy programmers) that could be managed by the IT developers. The latter (which often are 'I-might-get-use-of-this-later-or-might-not) are run in seperate userjob that will not disturb other jobs and can be recreated by the user gradually. They just need one more bit of knowledge: Failing with level check? Recreate! 2. There are methods to scan for 'query reference' just like DSPPGMREF. a) a full source-retrieval and b) my own much more primitive FNDSTRSYSO, both of which have been discussed on this list.
