CPW 114 Client/Server, 23 Interactive. If he only has 64MB and a single 4.19GB disk you can forget about running V5R1. (I wouldn't care for V4R5 much either with only 64MB). Maximum memory for the model is 832MB so it can be expanded. For V5R1 you should install at least one additional disk, and bring the memory up to 192MB or 256MB. For V4R5 you should have a bare minimum of 128MB. You need to dedicate a LAN adapter to the INS, and have a separate LAN adapter for the 400 (OS/400) native use. Is the price for V4R5 or V5R1 ? It can't be both. ...Neil "Peter Dow" <pcdow@yahoo.com> Sent by: midrange-l-admin@midrange.com 2001/11/09 19:47 Please respond to midrange-l To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> cc: Subject: V5R1 vs V4R5 Hi All, My neighbor is considering buying a small 170: 9406-170, #2160 processor, 64mb memory, 4.19gb disk, V4R5---$4950 Add #2866 Netfinity server with 100/10 ethernet--------- $1450 First, I seem to remember some warning about IBM no longer supporting ethernet via the Netfinity server. Second, I want to convince him that he should get V5R1, not V4R5. Any site with good comparisons, or perhaps a V5R1 new features list? Third, where can I find the CPW rating for this? Or any model-processor feature? Fourth, is that a good price? tia, Peter Dow Dow Software Services, Inc. 909 425-0194 voice 909 425-0196 fax
