Eclipse has been in the works for quite a while. It is a great idea but
IBM is not the first. NetBeans did this a while back and has a lot more
momentum than the Eclipse product. NetBeans is probably  more
Java-centric but it may just be too little too late. IBM claims it is a
modern emacs.

Is anyone else trying out Eclipse and if so how do you like it? I found
that it lacks a lot of the features of WebSphere development tools,
but the last download I tried was a few weeks ago. I may be missing
something, but it seems quite a step backward from Code/400,
VisualAge Java, and WebSphere Studio, which I believe it replaces.
