Hi
I have come across a problem which has exhausted all my
attempts to solve or come up with a plausible explanantion.

I have an external printer file (Invoices) to which I have attached
an overlay. This goes to an HP4050 laser printer which works great.

However, since I needed a copy for Back office purposes,
I created another overlay (with COPY over it) for this second copy.

I now wrote a program to auto pick up the normal invoices (without
overlay) and then duplicate them out to another outputQ - one with
the standard overlay and the duplicate with the COPY overlay.

Problem. These copied spools are out of alignment to the original
ones which originally worked great. Specifically, the overlay is
ok but the AS/400 print is offset right and is in a slightly different
font size.

My duplicating invloved CPYSPLF CTLCHAR(*FCFC) and then
copying (with loads of over-rides) back to QSYSPRT printer file.

I reasoned that the difference could be the fact that the original
printer file was external (therefore has a CCSID of 285) and that
QSYSPRT has a CCSID of 0.

I now wrote a program to replace the CPYF to QSYSPRT. It now
uses an externally described printer file.
This made no difference.

I now have 2 spool files which are ostensibly the same - WRKSPLFA
gives the same details and a DSPFD of the printer files shows the
same.
But they print differently.

Has ne1 come across this before ?

Alternatively, is there another way of doing the COPY version ?

Thanx in advance.

Mike
