This is a multi-part message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I am trying to get a handle on this. Where can I find out information about remote journaling? I have looked at the Backup & Recovery Guide V4R4. Has anyone here implemented remote journaling as part of a DR plan? >From a DR standpoint, can I rely on just applying journal entries from a remote journal to get my local database back in sync? Or is this just going to be too slow and necessitate database replication on the remote system? Or is it, "It depends"? I've seen information for the *NoMax product which, to the best of my knowledge, uses OS/400's remote journaling to feed its applications to replicate databases on the remote system(s). Is there much advantage to going with a third-party product like this when it *appears* to be a somewhat simple task to do the replication via roll-your-own? Am I correct in the understanding that if you set up remote journaling with synchronous journal entry replication, that the source system's application must wait until the target system has added the journal entry to the remote journal? If so, is this even usable from a performance standpoint? I would imagine that batch update jobs would have horrendous performance. What would happen if you lose communications for several minutes?
