But by replacing one copy member with another you are minimising those changes. Also you are not changing the function in any way, just tweaking, so if a JDE upgrade wipes out your tweak it's not a disaster. By the 80/20 rule you would probably only want to apply your tweak to a handful of programs anyway. After that you would get diminishing returns for the effort, so keeping track of which ones need to re-tweaked should be fairly trivial.
