I have to agree with you on the need for JDE World to be updated to ILE, but I
don't see it happening in my lifetime (but then my kids think I am older than
dirt).

Thanks for the tip on the indexes.  I found a News/400 article from Dec 97 by
Julian Monypenny that takes it a step farther (I think).  It recommends that in
ILE you define array indexes as Integers.  We tested this in a dummy program and
proved that it does improve performance.  To do this would require JDE program
code changes, something we do (too much) but would like to put off as long as
possible in this case.

   Does it use the standard I00DSINX or worse, performance wise, I00DSBIN copy
   member for index definitions? You might get a further performance boost by
   removing these copies and instead defining packed indices of the same size.
