Perhaps IBM should be lobbied for an OS/400 enhancement to future backup software. Customers want the same GO SAVE stuff they now have, but in addition, have an option that says ... We are going to run this backup in unattended mode. We do not want to have to have a human operator hanging around until it is done, or returning to our site when in fact it should be completed. When it gets done, we want a message to QSYSMSG if something went wrong & in that case also capture the joblog we want a message to QSYSOPR if it was a successful save & in that case forget the joblog we want the system left in user-accessible normal mode, so that if the next staff at our company are not our MIS department, the people do not have a hassle. we want the system console signed off when it is done with the backup, successful or not We want to be able to select these rules from some prompt screen like the old GO BACKUP rules, then just take a menu option to start the sucker.
