(#1311) System Unique Identifier
After 255 scratch installs, the system ID counter wraps and a new system
ID must be created. Feature #1311 can be ordered as an MES to regenerate
a customer's system ID.

Mike,

This would be ordered either directly from IBM or from an IBM Business
Partner. Somehow, you will need to get IBM into the loop on this one
and get yourself established as the official owner. Text above is from
IBM's sales manual, although the cause mentioned doesn't seem likely.

The actual list price for this base model was $9,000, although I can
also remember spending thousands of dollars for a 386 PC many years ago.
It is not a very meaningful number. Disks, tape, and additional memory
were added at an extra cost.
