& if anyone in touch with MC employees, advise them to apply for Unemployment Compensation IMMEDIATELY. When I was laid off in July 1984 I had high hopes of getting another job real soon but after 2 weeks I realized it could be a long road, so I tooled on over to the closest Unemployment Compensation office to apply for my benefits & they were located a goodly distance away because not every town has one. There was a good bit of beaurocracy to deal with & it took them 3 weeks to start sending me my first benefit checks, so the first one arrived 1 week after I landed my next job. The checks only lasted for 2 weeks, because they go from when you apply to when you get your next job, or until the time period runs out. They do not go from when you lose old job to when you get next job, if that time period falls inside the limitation on how long they can run.
