Welcome to dealing with networks and telco's.

Haven't you noticed this situation before?

I have never had a connectivity issue where I didn't have to prove to the
network or telco that the problem was there end. It's like you are questioning
their competence rather than trying to resolve the issue.

At least you are back up and running.

This is terrible, but after being assured by the network guru's that the
router was passing things along, it turned out that they had a block on SMTP
from our production box. They changed to allow outgoing mail only and Voila
it works.

I could just scream. They were asked several times, and promised that it
couldn't possibly be on their end. I had to have something wrong with my
program. <wisps of steam from ears>
