I hate to get on the Atari horse again, but...<g> In 1986 I could go to a mall bookstore or someplace else that had a lot of magazines and find at least 3 or 4 Atari related slick paper magazines that had a lot of advertising. If I went to a computer store that sold Atari stuff, I could find more than that including the truly bizarre looking British ones that pioneered the kind of page layout that made Wired famous. By '91 or so, you had to subscribe or go to an Atari specialist store to find magazines, and the ones that were left were produced by hobbyists in their spare time. I think the last Atari computer was built in '93. I'll bet there's a few Amiga people on the list who can tell a similar story. Granted, there was no consumer related internet then, but I still think there's a parallel. Just because I think there's a parallel doesn't mean I like it. > -----Original Message----- > From: Phil [mailto:sublime78ska@yahoo.com] > Sent: Friday, July 27, 2001 10:59 AM > To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com > Subject: RE: Midrange Computing Closed > > > The monday morning update was the best thing about midrange > computing, at > least in recent years.
