~~~I am using the SNDEMAIL utility from the Sept 1998 News/400 
I set this up recently, using Change SMTP Attributes (CHGSMTPA) having the:
Mail router  . . . . . . . . . . MAILROUTER xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
It was not noticeably slower, is SNDDST any faster? That may help.
It is probably the NT box not checking often enough. Just a guess.

Interesting puzzle. What is the status now?
