I took the liberty of forwarding Larry's message regarding the reservations (we all have) about using BCC drives in leiu of using good ol' IBM drives. I finally got a response to all the questions Larry had and posted them, along with the original questions, at http://www.asresources.com/html/bcc.html If anyone's interested. The way the "trade-up" with BCC works is this: 1. They'll give you a discounted price on their 17.whatever G drives. 2. They'll buy back your 4G or 8G IBM drives. The price they quote you is what I'd call "wholesale", but when you factor in the discounts, they are pretty much giving you a pretty high retail price for your old drives. The stats on these drives are better than the stats on the IBM drives, and they ARE IBM drives. I did this on my 170, to get more space without having to buy an expansion unit. The new 7102 is really expensive. I did run into some problems, caused by not reading the instructions they sent with the drives, which plainly said NOT to do what I did. Comes from being so d**n smart, I guess. I can't help it, it's a programmer thang. But they really bent over backward to help me straighten it out. The tech guy I talked to really knew his stuff. But, they're working like a champ now, and "seem" to be a little faster. AS/Resources, Inc.
