Do you really think IBM needs your "benefiting" by buying this CD? >> C'mon, Brad. I didn't pay the $22.90 so someone could tell me the iSeries is a good machine. I paid it so I could tell someone else that it is. I hope they'll benefit from the knowledge. >> No, I don't think IBM needs "benefiting", but I do think the iSeries Community needs benefiting. That's why I'm doing it. I'm not quite so naive to thing that this one CD is going to make a huge difference, either. But I think if enough CD's get in the right hands, well then yes, I do think it can make some difference. >> It will probably make more of a difference than just complaining about what IBM needs to do, anyway. > > But if you wait for IBM to do it all, and for IBM to pay for it all... > Well... I think that's what everyone's been doing for years now, and > progress has been slow. I think the effort of individual > iCitzens is what's > going to make the big difference in the future. This here CD > is one way to > make a small difference... Man, you should have saved your 22.90 and bought a clue, JT. There are quite a few iSeries proponents that pour their heart and soul into the machine and the "nation" that existed before IBM started theirs. Saying "everyone is waiting for IBM to do and pay for it all" is WAY off base. >> You're right. I was "WAY off base". You're also right "There are quite a few iSeries proponents that pour their heart and soul into the machine and the "nation" that existed before IBM started theirs." >> In fact, I've been one of them, just as you have. >> I think it would have been better if I'd said something like this: Here's a company, Enabling Technologies Group, Inc, that took it upon themselves to do some marketing of the iSeries. Whatever their motivations, it helps the entire Community. Here's a chance, for a small cost, for individuals in the iSeries Community to the whole Community. Maybe if enough people buy the CD, they'll cut the price. Maybe they'll recoup their production costs, and sell it for what it costs to manufacture and distribute it. But even if not, each CD that gets in the right hands will make a small difference. >> I think if I'd said it this way, it wouldn't take anything away from the contributions people have already made. Just encourage people, who want to make more of a contribution, to do so. >> As far as saving the $22.90 to buy a clue, well... It would take a whole lot more than that to buy the size of clue I need...:-) But, IMHO, you're in the same boat with me, Brad. jt +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
