He didn't actually use the word "strategic" though did he.
Someone I respect at IBM once told me that if a product is declared 
"strategic" it's the death knell for it !  ;-)

Man, aren't you naive!
That's what they said about OS/2 and just about any other discontinued
"strategic" product, SAA, AD/Cycle, Off-Vision, etc, etc.
