Could it be that this node has a problem.  I've actually seen this before,
replaced the ethernet card, and solved the problem.  Or.....what hub, what
switch, what cable, what jack, what patch cord, etc.  Could it be hardware?
If you monkeyed another working PC in that place how would it respond?
