We had problems with the 6385, and so did some of our customers. Our new box has a 6383, and we have a few customers with the 6386. You lose the wide range of compatibility with different QIC formats that the 6385 could handle (get a 6382 if you need that) , but it is a faster drive and have heard of no problems with it so far. You're aware if the special upgrade deal IBM has for replacing the 6385's - as they wil not be supported on V5R2 ? ...Neil "John Taylor" <john.taylor@telusplanet.net> Sent by: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com 2001/06/25 10:49 Please respond to MIDRANGE-L To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> cc: Subject: Need feedback on 6386 tape drive. All, We're considering the replacement of our troublesome 6385 (13GB) tape drive with a new 25GB (6386), and before I sign on the dotted line, I'd like to hear from anyone who has anything to say about the 6386 - good or bad. Feel free to send your comments off-list if you're not comfortable with making a public statement.
