SPLTOOL can send spooled files to a machine running FTP.  I don't know if that will help.  Unless you're looking for more of a "direct communication."

The RPG Sourcerer's Guide Redbook has good examples about sockets.  Also, my GETURI open source program uses sockets to communication with an HTTP server, which is really all you're looking to do as well.  It's direct socket communication.

SPLTOOL and GETURI can be found at http://www.bvstools.com

Subject: Sockets Programming

Does anyone know about any good tool kits for sockets programming on the AS/400?

Here is the goal.  We have a process that creates spooled files.  These spooled files contain info that we want to send to another system.  The other system (UNIX) has an interface engine that will support parsing out the data, but requires that the info be sent on a specific port using TCP/IP.

Any input or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
