I'd prefer to hook directly up to the /400...   in order for the /400 to prevent the proliferation of front end PC's (the NT syndrome I call it... just stick another processor in front of whatever you're trying to connect to) the /400 needs to communicate with everything.  Anybody have any idea if it will support a USB connection anytime soon?

If you don't want to have a PC involved, all you need to find is

a 5250 Model 11 with an infrared attachment.  Maybe Emerald

Technologies, Intermec, or Black Box makes one.  I don't know...
