Martin --

You ask tough questions! <grin>

Actually, we've already got the following covered:

Win 98, Win 2K, Win NT, Win ME.

Windows XP will be the same as far as running 32-bit applications.

The .Net stuff ... that's a different story ... but nobody knows at this
point. Microsoft -- so far -- has done an excellent job of backwards
compatibility.

So we feel we're in good shape.

Welcome back Don, Missed your words and wit.

A 5-year project in Visual Basic? I thought I'd heard Visual Basic was dead
in the water and that there is a new MS product that will save the world?
C-Sharp maybe? Let me ask another question if I may, concerning VB. A
5-year project extends, by design, until 2006; probably longer because no
massive project stays on target.

From now until 2006 the products will have to work seamlessly on Windows 98,
Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows.net and any new
and as yet undelivered operating systems from Microsoft. What is your
estimation of the work involved for that? Is it as simple as the salesman
says?

Okay gang ... I'm making an iSeries comeback!

After three years of Windows/VB/MTS/SQL Server enterprise development, I've
decided to get "back into" the AS/400 world.

I'm still working on a HUGE VB project ... for the next five years (!) ...
but I want to add some E-RPG and Java skills (on the best platform ever,
OS/400) so that I can impress this client and put some of the processing on
a FAST and RELIABLE platform (OS/400 ... did I mention OS/400?).

I'm ready to spring for TimeShare400.com ... unless I hear otherwise.

And I'll be MUCH more active on this list (you've been warned!).

Peace,
