It will only limit the potential customer base if Tomcat doesn't materialize; as long as Rochester follows through with the plan to provide Tomcat as a free operating system feature, then there shouldn't be any impact at all. In fact, code tied to Apache should be somewhat more portable than code tied to WebSphere... The bigger question in my mind is how this change would support IBM's goal of taking over the middleware market with WebSphere -- the elimination of standard edition would seem to elevate WebSphere into the realm of being only a solution for the 'elite'...
