This may sound funny, but it was not all that long ago when the 400 was
being attacked as a closed system. Then UNIX vendors push the issue,
then eventually Microsoft and NT did. I just came back from an XP
presentation by MS and it is VERY clear that they do not want an open
system, but a single vendor solution. Microsoft everywhere, desktop,
server, hand help, refrigerator, coffee machine and game box. Hold on, I
feel the walls closing all around. As long as you where MS blue, you'll
be OK, else, you will be hooked to the wrong vendor and product
(according to MS - that is). Some strategies keep coming around even
though the vendor changes.
