I strongly believe that your answer was wrong. PLIC exists within LIC, and LIC is backed up on a SAVSYS, which is a part of Option 21 save. This is done on a partition by partition basis. WHAT IS THIS "SUPER OPTION 21" IBM supplies? How does it get done in a single pass as you suggest across all partitions? An IBM lab guy fat COMMON in his talk on Intro to LPARS repeatedly said PLIC does not get backed up In a message dated 06/04/2001 1:04:16 AM Eastern Daylight Time, barsa@barsaconsulting.com writes: Subj: Re: What about the PLIC? Is there a "Super" option 21 that does what Charly is asking? A "Backup whole machine" option John Carr ------------------------------------ So, does this mean that if I configure a system with two partitions, load up a bunch of stuff in each partition, and then do an option 21 save in each partition, that I will be able to take those 2 option 21 saves and recreate the whole mess on a similar set of hardware at a recovery site? Or will I have to be doing the partition magic and configuring the hardware before I can restore at the recovery site? Has anyone looked at the V5R1 Backup + Recovery manual to see what the procedure is? Seems like the less that has to be done at the recovery site, the better. Also seems like a partitioned system will be harder to setup at a recovery site.
