Modem Configuration IBM 5858 -- MIDRANGE-L

Good day

I got a IBM 5858 Modem which I tried to connect on my AS/400. 
The modem has been attached to the AS/400, connected to 
a direct analog line and configured as 25.bis. 
If I try to to a sndsrvrqs *test the lamp 108 and 109 is coming up.
However, after a few seconds those two lamps are off again and 
on after a few sec. No error on the modem and no error on the 
AS/400. I can't hear any sound on the modem.
I used to have a Multimodem MT 2834 attached to the AS/400 
and it worked without any problems.
