Dennis, I assume your user is running Windows 9x or ME. I believe that if you are running NT 4.0 workstation or 2000 Professional you have the option of entering both a user and password. However, under 9x and ME the user names must match. So I created a share but when the user want to access it, he is ask for a password but not for a user id. I foud out that the userId on his machine must match a user Id on the AS/400. That is a problem because his network userId is more than 10 caracter long (it is the first letter of is first name plus his hole last name). > > Any suggestion on how to go around this? > > Denis Robitaille > Directeur services techniques > Cascades Inc > 819 363 5187 > fax 819 363 5177 > > > +--- > | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! > | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. > | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. > | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. > | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com > +--- > +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
