My opinion is that this is dependent on the client operating system; If the client os allow you to "connect using a different user name" - win nt4 and win2k does - then it's no problem. Win95 does not have the ability to let you change the logon user name. Very neet. But I have one problem. I created a subdirectory and I want to give access to to a user. I do not want the user to have access to anything else. So I created a share but when the user want to access it, he is ask for a password but not for a user id. I foud out that the userId on his machine must match a user Id on the AS/400. That is a problem because his network userId is more than 10 caracter long (it is the first letter of is first name plus his hole last name). Any suggestion on how to go around this?
