I ran into a similar situation here where I was using FTP to put a file onto
a Unix server and didn't want the Unix process to start until I was done. I
also didn't want the Unix process to wait or be scheduled since the "put" of
the file could occur at anytime.

What we finally came up with was for me to Telnet to a specific port after
the FTP put had finished (all within a CL running in batch). On the Unix
machine, a listener was put on that port and whenever it saw activity, it
would start the service to process the file.

Sure sounds like you will have to work with the Unix Admin for a workable
solution.

Thanks in advance,
