It depends. If all you are doing with your PC is 5250, then by all means reevaluate the use of a PC. I won't quibble about memory and all that - that's not the significant benefits. IMHO. If you have the wherewithal to learn and adapt then I strongly suggest you check out Operations Navigator. Granted there are some stuff that can be done faster with green screen - but, then again have people voice their opinions to those that matter within IBM? However there are some things that Ops Nav does that cannot be done with green screen, or can only be done with much pain on green screen. And frankly some of the stuff gets much easier on Ops Nav. Granted, I am a green screen bigot in much. But you need to seriously look at Op's Nav. And many of you are probably configured to use the minimum of Op's nav - like just look at spool files. There is so much more. This part of Client Access changes significantly with each release of OS/400 and will continue to do so for quite some time. I've got people here who are more green screen bigoted than I am and even they are impressed with some of the benefits of Op's nav. I am looking forward to someone publishing some Operations Navigator questions in the faq like: How do I configure my PC to access more Operations Navigator functions? How do I secure my users from some of the Operations Navigator functions? I AM NOT LOOKING FOR THE RESPONSE TO BE SENT TO THESE QUESTIONS RIGHT NOW, VIA THIS LIST! Sent by: owner-midrange-l@mi drange.com 05/17/01 12:09 PM Please respond to MIDRANGE-L Most of use the regular Client Access. One person has Win2000 and since Express is supposed to work better that is what was initially installed. But now that person has regular installed so it is not a major issue. I thought is was neat to know that so we could use CAE if we wanted to... By the way, what is the big deal about CAE anyway? Besides compatibility with the newer OSes. -----Original Message----- From: Stone, Brad V (TC) [mailto:bvstone@taylorcorp.com] Sent: Thursday, May 17, 2001 11:08 AM To: 'MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com' Subject: RE: Client Access Express Printers? Are there some with CAE that can see the IFS and some that can't? There could be many reasons why you can't see the IFS, but Netserver has nothing to do with them. I assume you can see the AS/400 in Network neighborhood? When you click, do you get anything? Maybe just printers? Brad > -----Original Message----- > From: Wills, Mike N.
